Maybe not a shock but the sudden passing of Queen Elizabeth II is certainly a surprise to all. Just two days ago she was shaking hands with the newly appointed Prime Minister Liz Truss. Even in her last days, she performed her duties as she always did (though at her castle and not at the palace, which was customary).

What will be very interesting is what Charles brings to the leadership position of the monarchy. Will his interest in the environment become part of his “platform” as a monarch? What comes next feels significant and possibly very exciting.
